John Floyd Warren, age 84, of Spruce Pine, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Avery County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Maude Woody Warren. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Jean Warren, who passed away in 2020, daughter; Yolanda Ann Warren and brothers: Charles, James, and Wesley Warren.
Floyd was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He worked at Harris Mining Company for 21 years, then at Buck Stove for 11 years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is his daughter, Shirley Teresa Wise of Spruce Pine; two grandchildren: William Earl Wise (Kelsey) and Echo Marie Parker (Nick); four great-grandchildren: Khloe Parker, Haylee Wise, Sawyer Wise and one on the way, William Clay Parker; sisters-in-law: Faith Warren of Hanging Rock and Patsy Ruth Adams of Lenoir and a brother-in-law, Daniel O’Dean Widner of Lenoir.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pastor Josh Matney will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Dennis Frasier, Nick Parker, Farold Cook, Arnold Laws, William Wise and Shawn Hilliard.
