Derrick Robinson, age 57, of Rocky Fork Road, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26th, 2022 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Riddle.
Derrick loved his family dearly, especially his grandkids. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved being in the woods. He was a hard-working pillar of the community who helped everyone and was known as a big mountain man with a heart of gold.
Surviving is his loving wife of 37 years, Chrissy Riddle Robinson, of Rocky Fork; daughter, Hope Hoyle and husband, Joshua, of Prices Creek; six grandchildren: Xander, Zachariah, Maddie, Dalton, Maycee and Haiden; special niece, Lilly Riddle, of the home; two brothers: C.J. Robinson and wife, Kathy, Gary Robinson and wife, Julie, all of Prices Creek; sister, Christel McFarland and husband, Lee, of Prices Creek; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Cheryl Daly (James) of Panama City Beach, FL; Debbie “Sid” Manis (Dennis) of Forest City; James “Boy” Riddle of Nova Scotia, Canada; Marty Riddle (Stacey) and Donnie Riddle, both of Rocky Fork; Paula “Pudly” Simmons (Steve) of Nebo; and Tim Riddle (Brad) of Spindale. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 1st, 2022 in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service with the Rev. Joshua Hoyle officiating.
