The Town of Burnsville finally has a chance to upgrade their water and sewer system after many years of patching it together. The Town will receive over $12 million to cover two wastewater projects and three water system projects. This grant has no requirement of matching funds from the town. Yancey County has also received infrastructure funds in the amount of over $16 million for water and wastewater projects. The grant funding was part of an appropriation in the State’s budget to the Department of Environmental Quality and part of the federal American Rescue Plan Act funds.
