Gloria Jean Lyons, age 74, of Chestnut Grove Church Road in Spruce Pine, the Little Switzerland community, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born on June 18, 1948 in Dayton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Martha Damrell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Lyons.
Gloria was a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she loved working with kids at church and school. She was a giving person that enjoyed taking care of others. She loved spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband; Mike Lyons of the home; her granddaughters; Kasey Sudderberg and husband, Max of Hendersonville and Brittany Childers and husband, Ryan of Candler; her sister; Wanda Damrell of Berea, KY her brothers; Marshall Damrell of Berea, KY and Micky Damrell and wife, Kay of Damrell, KY; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Gloria Jean Lyons on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Bobby Joe Greene and Matt Woody officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Burnette Cemetery.
