Monica Woody Vance

Monica Woody Vance, age 54, of the Jacks Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18th, 2022.  A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of Gwendolyn Hunter Woody and the late Alan R. Woody who passed away November 15, 2017.   She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bernie Hunter and Blanche Hunter Chandler; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Ruth Woody and her mother-in-law, Juanita Vance. Monica was a simple woman who loved to ride motorcycles and crocheting. She loved everyone, especially her family and grandbabies.  She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memories is her mother, Gwendolyn Hunter Woody of Newdale; her loving husband, Scott Vance; her children: Seth Wright and wife, Santana, of South Toe and Abby Wright of Jacks Creek; granddaughter, Isabella; grandson, Aidan; father-in-law, Harold Vance and wife, Kathy, of Minneapolis; sister-in-law, Kelly Gragg and husband, Doug, of Minneapolis; niece, Karmen Birtchfield and husband, Colby and great-nephew, Colson.  Numerous friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 24th in Liberty Hill Baptist Church.  Rev. Tommy Murphy, Rev. Stacy Elkins and GE Freeman will officiate.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
