Butch Pittman, age 76, of Rabbit Hop Road in Spruce Pine, the Estatoe community, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.
Born on January 29, 1946 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Rev. Paul Pittman and Myrtle Pittman who still survives. He was also preceded in death by a brother, J W Pitman.
Butch was a member of the Big Crabtree Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in church activities. He retired after thirty years of service with Feldspar Trucking. He was currently employed by Houston Trucking. He loved playing golf and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-two years; Deborah Hoyle Pittman of the home; his daughter; Ranae P. Buchanan and husband, Jimmy of Spruce Pine; his son; Gerald Pittman of Burnsville; his mother; Myrtle Pittman of Spruce Pine; his brother; Scotty Pittman and wife, Patsy of Spruce Pine; his sisters; Beverly Hoilman of Spruce Pine and Becky Dixon and husband, Chuck of Clemmons; his grandchildren; Ashley, Alex, Alicia, Kyleigh, Kennedy, Graci, Julianna, and Kaj; and his great grandchildren; Daniel, Jordan, Dylan, Jayda, Laz, Noah, Kaelyn, Eli and Kasper.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Butch Pittman on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the Big Crabtree Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Rathbone officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the Big Crabtree Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Big Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the doctors and nurses at the Heart Tower and I.C.U. at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals for their wonderful care of Butch.
