Royce Carroway, age 79 of the South Toe community, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Finley and Love Gouge Carroway.
Royce worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 33 years before retiring. He was also a proud member of the Yancey County Bear Hunters Association.
Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife, Ruth Carroway, of the home; son, Charlie Carroway and wife, Annette, of Johnson City, TN; daughter, Pamela C. Allen of Burnsville, NC; step-daughter, Denise Young and husband, Chris, of Raleigh, NC; brother, Robert Dennis Carroway and wife, Linda, of Burnsville, NC; grandchildren: Eden Carroway, Jenny Carroway Ballew (Dustin), Juliana Allen Fox (Dawson), and Finley Allen; step-grandchildren: Madison Silver (Zack), John Claude Charleton, Camryn Young, Jonathan Young, and Brandon Young; and one great grandchild, Audrey Ballew.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 21st, 2022 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends and loved ones two hours prior to service time. Reverend Chuck Randolph will officiate. Interment will follow on Saturday, October 22nd, in the Carroway Cemetery on South Toe at 11 a.m.
