The Parks and Recreation Trust Fund has awarded Yancey County a $350,000 grant to complete the second and final phase of the Ray Cort Park renovation.
This second phase process will include:
- A new 1500 square foot Recreation Center
- Enhanced foot bridge
- Resurfacing the basketball court/pickle ball court
- Grass swale
- Reconfiguring the parking lot
- An enhancing the nature trail loop.
“We look forward to continuing with the renovation efforts at Ray Cort Park. The Commissioners and I are excited for the community to use and enjoy these new amenities’” said Yancey County Manager Lynn Austin
The Yancey County Commissioners and staff are thankful for their continued working relationship with the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund and the High Country Council of Governments.
Planning and Construction will begin in 2023.
