Pisgah Pickers Charity Concert Funds $11,000 Grant to Reconciliation House

On 3 November 2022 the Yancey Advancement Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Community Development Nonprofit affiliated with the Yancey County Economic Development Commission, announced an $11,000.00 grant to Reconciliation House to support their fuel and heating assistance programs.  “With the coming winter season and the economic volatility currently being seen in the energy markets, the Yancey Advancement Foundation is pleased to be able to make this grant to Reconciliation House to assist their important work to make sure that resources are available to ensure that all Yancey County residents have essential warmth and shelter this winter” said Yancey County Economic Development Director and Yancey Advancement Foundation Executive Director, Jamie McMahan.

“I and the Yancey Advancement Foundation Board of Directors would like to specifically thank and acknowledge Young & McQueen Grading Company for their leadership in organizing the Pisgah Pickers concert and for leading the charge in raising corporate and individual sponsorships for the event.  Through their efforts, and the kind generosity of all the individuals, companies, and organizations who contributed financially to this cause, we were able to raise the funds to provide this financial assistance to Reconciliation House.  A special thank you to Pisgah Pickers for putting on a fantastic concert and to Homeplace Beer Company for providing a wonderful venue for the event as well as financial support” added McMahan.

“The cold weather has arrived, and forecasters have predicted a very cold winter here in Yancey County. Our goal at Reconciliation House is to make sure that no one in Yancey County ever goes to bed cold or hungry. This year we are seeing historic high prices for heating” said John Miller, Reconciliation House Executive Director. “We offer assistance to families in crisis situations and those experiencing long-term financial poverty by helping families heat their homes. And anyone in need of food can receive a healthy food box” added Miller.
