Tommy Buchanan, age 75, of the Jacks Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022 at his home.
A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Adrian “T.A.” and Margaret “Muff” Young Buchanan. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Lee “Don” Buchanan.
Tommy was a very proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He had a large affiliation with the Yancey County Democrat Party. He enjoyed farming and mowing, but especially loved spending time with his grandsons.
Surviving is his loving wife, Peggy Penland Buchanan; his son, Tim Buchanan and wife, Alli, of Jacks Creek and his grandsons: Jaxon and Benson Buchanan. Several other extended family also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8th at Yancey Funeral Services. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. with Rev. Denny Wilson officiating. Military Honors will follow the services conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
