Johnny Elmer McGuire, age 80, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, November 9th, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Avery County he was a son of the late Silas “Frank” and Monnie Lee McGuire. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother and brother, Joe McGuire. Johnny attended Valley Haven Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his sisters: Geraldine Townsend and husband, Homer and Frankie Townsend and husband, Hubert all of Boone; nieces: Paula Miller and husband, Kevin, Michelle Curd and husband, Rick and Melinda Brown; nephews: Gerald Townsend and wife, Crystal and Randall Townsend and wife, Sarah and special cousin and caretaker, Jessica Buchanan and husband, Patrick, and caretaker, Lisa McGuire. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16th at Valley Haven Church. Rev. Jamie Hughes will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
