Shirley Jean Sparks Autrey, age 73, formerly of Spruce Pine passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at Gordon Hospice of Iredell in Statesville, NC.
Born on May 14, 1949 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Bobby Lee and Iris Biddix Sparks. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Hughes Autrey who passed away in 2010, along with her brother, William Sparks who passed away in 2022.
Shirley was a member of the Ransom Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family, visiting the mountains and spending time with her sister Rosa in Georgia.
Left to cherish her memory is her children; Sherry Lambert, and husband Bobby, Marsha Autrey White, Crystal Autrey, Sam Autrey and wife Brittney and Michael Muhlbaier; her sisters and brothers; Rosa St. John and husband, Bill; Donna McClure and husband, Henry; Judy McKinney and husband, Sam; Susie Handy and husband, Dennis; Mildred Sparks and husband, Tony; and Johnny Sparks and wife, Pam; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Shirley Autrey on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with Rev. Allen McCoy officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Berry Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted and appreciated due to Shirley’s wishes.
The family would like to extend a special ‘Thanks’ to Gordon Hospice of Iredell and Pastor Allen McCoy for their gracious hospitality and care of Shirley in her transition.
