An investigation is underway after a man died following a stabbing incident in the parking lot of the Walmart on Sugar Hill Road in Marion. The Marion Police Department reported the incident occurred around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. (11/19/22)
When police arrived they discovered 45-year-old Alfredo Guardian Magana, of Marion, had been critically injured after being stabbed and run over during an altercation. Police say he was found lying in the side parking lot of the shopping center near the grocery pickup area. Despite lifesaving efforts from McDowell County EMS, Alfredo died on scene from his injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed two vehicles with a total of approximately nine people met up in the parking lot of the shopping center where a physical altercation occurred. During the altercation, police said Salvador Romero Magana, who was in the one of the trucks, brandished a large knife while seated in the vehicle and began stabbing Alfredo. As Alfredo fell to the ground, Salvador fled the scene in a Chevrolet pickup truck. Marion police said in a press release. “Salvador ran over Alfredo with his vehicle while he was lying on the ground.”
Salvador has not been seen since the incident. Marion police secured second-degree murder warrants for 38-year-old Salvador, of Spruce Pine. He is described as a 150 pounds, 5’7″ Hispanic male, who may be operating a white Chevrolet Z-71 Silverado, with an unknown tag number.
Police say if anyone comes in contact with Salvador, they should call 911 or a local law enforcement agency.
