Keith Masters

Keith Masters, age 75, of Harrell Hill Road in Bakersville, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his home.

Born on December 6, 1946 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Joyce Street Masters and Norris Masters who still survives.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-two years; Carol Riddle Masters of the home; his sons; Jason Masters and wife, Rachael of Asheville; Lincoln Masters and wife, Mary of Spruce Pine; and Adam Masters of Asheville; his grandchildren; Olivia, Link, Winston, and Pearl Masters; his father, Norris Masters of Bakersville; and his uncle; Kay Masters of Spruce Pine.

Keith was a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science. He was employed by the Toe River Health District for thirteen years and later with the North Carolina Department of Hazardous Waste Management where he served as a supervisor until his retirement. He was a member of the Bakersville Masonic Lodge #357 A.F. & A.M.

Keith was a lifelong cattle farmer and cowboy that truly enjoyed working on his farm. He had an excellent memory and was known as an outstanding storyteller. Additionally, he was a great writer and he enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to bluegrass and country music. He enjoyed hunting, traveling the western United States, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great father and he loved his sons and grandchildren. Keith was a loving and kind man and was a father figure to many.

Private family graveside services and interment will be in the Masters Cemetery. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Church of the Brethren.
