Rev. Claude H. Carroll, age 85, of Gibbs Road, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Will and Irene Ward Carroll. He is also preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Carroll, Nola Ward and Beulah Murphy; three brothers: Welzie “Rab” Carroll, Kenneth Carroll and Deaward Carroll; daughter-in-law, Gloria McCurry Carroll, and brother-in-law, Seagal Phillips.
Rev. Claude pastored at five different churches. He loved the Lord and his family dearly. He was an electrician for many years, and loved tinkering on his 1950 Ford car.
Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Eva Ray Carroll; son, Clay Carroll of Pleasant Valley Road; daughter, Lucretia Hughes (Bradley) of Gibbs Road; grandchildren: Evan Carroll (Kim) of Gibbs Road, Gina Scharf (Steven) of Pleasant Valley Road, and Lisa Huskins (Darryl) of Newdale; great-grandchildren: Lainey, Kamryn, Noah, Tristin, Kyler, Hannah, Tamara, Crystal, Jessica and Kristian; great, great-grandchildren: Dalton, Brantley, Hagan, Hudson and Seth; brother, Homer Carroll (Norma) of Weaverville; six sisters: Edith Phillips of Bloody Fork, Thelma Owens (Walter) Valdese, Joyce “Hope” Bryant (David) of Hickory, Geraldine Cole (Charles) of Hickory, Judy Thomas (Jimmie) of Possum Trot, and Rosemary Davis (Allen) of Texas; and his beloved Border Collie, Bandit. Numerous special nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, friends and church family also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 8th at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Jimbo Seaton, Rev. Andrew Thomas and Rev. Bobby Ray will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rupert Ray Cemetery on Gibbs Road. The family will receive friends from 12 noon – 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church.
