Darrell Briggs, age 66, of Spruce Pine, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of Shirley Geouge Briggs of Bowditch and the late Thurman Briggs.
Darrell was a true mountain man who loved hunting, golfing, playing games on his phone and watching Duke basketball.
In addition to his mother, surviving is his loving wife of 34 years, Sabrina Briggs; daughter, Tara Graybeal (Derick) of South Toe; son, Heath Briggs (Sasha) of Green Mountain; stepson, Christopher Sullins (Mary) of Marietta, GA; five granddaughters: Destiny Elkins, Kaylee Graybeal, Paisley Graybeal, Millie Graybeal and Waverly Briggs; sister, Diane Ross (Allen King) of Bowditch, as well as his canine companion, Rusty.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at the home of his daughter, Tara, at 100 Mill Race Lane in Burnsville.
