Hazel McGuire Forbes, age 84, of Edison, NJ, formerly of Spruce Pine, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 at her home.
Born on October 11, 1938 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Effie Silver McGuire. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Forbes who passed away in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Lee Roy and Ray McGuire; her son-in-law, Steven Steele and her granddaughter, Jennifer Silva.
Hazel was a member of the Gouges Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Lockheed. She enjoyed spending time with her family and particularly her grandchildren and she also was a cat lover.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters; Donna Matis and husband, James; Caroline Steele and Leslie Aszman and husband, Rich all of Edison, NJ; her sister; Linda Lowder of Charlotte; her granddaughters; Amanda Matis and Meghan Mudrick; her great grandson; Kody Silva and her sisters-in-law; Kathleen Buchanan, Irene Fisher, Jennie V. Cook, Anna Ledford, and Lucy Lanning and husband, Robert.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm at Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Fairview Baptist Church. The body will lie in state and the family will meet and greet family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery.
