George Harold Hyatt, Jr., age 74. of Cane River, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at his home. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late George Harold Hyatt, Sr. and Katherine Thelma Smith Hyatt. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Hyatt. Jr. was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. After that, he became a power lineman for M.B. Haynes for many years. Later, he retired with Sun Heating in Asheville as a warehouse manager and truck driver. He loved working crossword puzzles and watching “Last of the Summer Wine” on TV.
Surviving is his brother, Ralph Hyatt and wife, Debra, of the home and sisters: Keeley Mills and husband, Richard, of Spruce Pine and Tammy Catron and husband, Jimmy, of Harriman, TN. Many nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.
