Florence Hughes Gouge, age 86, of Burnsville, went home to be with her Lord on January 3rd, 2023, at Fairfax Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fairfax, Virginia.
A native of Pigeon Roost, Green Mountain, NC. She lived for many years on Reservoir Rd, Burnsville. She was the daughter of Earl and Pansy Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Conley Gouge, brothers: Robert Hughes, Claude Hughes, Charles Hughes, Raymond Hughes, Riley Hughes, Tommy Hughes, Marcus Hughes, and sister: Marie Peterson.
Florence loved flowers particularly roses and pansies. She worked as a seamstress for many years.
Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Sandra Collinsworth and her husband Gene, grandchildren: Nathaniel Collinsworth, Carissa Elie, Jonathan Collinsworth, and great-grandson: James Elie. Also surviving are brothers: Ross Hughes, Troy Hughes, Malone Hughes, sisters: Sylvia Wright and Connie Thomas and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21st at the Church of God of Prophecy in Burnsville where she attended for many years. Rev Robert Norris will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, Florence requested donations may be made to the Church of God Prophecy in Burnsville, NC 28714.
