Harold Gene Nanney, age 70, of the Georges Fork Community, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2023 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation after a brief illness.
A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late James Edward and Marie Pansey Davis Nanney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: twin brothers, Paul and Terry Nanney, and nephews, Pete and Jordan Nanney.
Surviving are his siblings: Ray Nanney of Troy, Ralph Nanney (Nancy) of Morganton, Opal Ballew of Burnsville, Farrell Nanney of Spruce Pine, Darrell Nanney of Bakersville, Carolyn Byrd (Brownie) of Bakersville, Marilyn Nanney of Burnsville, Dana Murphy (Joel) of Spruce Pine, and Terrell Nanney (Cindy) of Burnsville; and his son, Tim Dayton of Marion. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Honoring Harold’s wishes, there will be no services.
