Jason Travis Atkins, age 45, of Shelby, North Carolina has been charged with the murder of 68 year old George Williams’ according to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office says deputies responded to the Jacktown Road area on the night of February 6th for a reported shooting. Once at the scene, authorities discovered Williams had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased. Deputies located the suspected shooter, later identified as Atkins, in a wooded area close to the scene a short time later. Atkins is being held without bond.
