As an independent with little use for either party I think some of the last few comments need some context. In Mitchell County all the commissioners are Republicans and have been for as long as I can remember. None of them are Communists. All the surrounding counties that are supposedly doing so well have subdivision ordinances that are not all that substantively different than the one posted for Mitchell County, maybe just a bit dated. The fewer commissioners we have in what is essentially already a one-party system here, the more “control” those fewer people elected by fewer people have. Do the math. We are, indeed, all in this together, but it would be helpful to understand who some folks are referring to when they say “we.”
