New businesses in towns or counties has very little to do with the elected officials. New business development is the job of the Economic Development Commission and many stores, restaurants etc have demographic numbers etc that must be met. You can’t just say, “I’d like to have a ….” and expect them to come. As for Mitchell County, I believe Big Lots is coming soon.
