Get your facts straight. I haven’t lived here twenty years. The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce was telling everyone what a great thing The Village of Penland was and shilling for the crooks at gatherings I attended. None of this has to do with any “playbooks” coming out of Washington or anywhere else. It has to do with naive and greedy people who think they know “how things work.” How things have been done by those people over the years hasn’t worked. While I’m not necessarily a fan of all the Mitchell County Commissioners all the time, I am tickled to death they haven’t been involved in the crazy schemes that go on around here when it comes to subdividing land. Contrary to popular and misinformed opinion, county business isn’t done and shouldn’t be done on social media. I repeat, all I can say is thank goodness that no matter what the Mitchell County Commission, this or previous ones, has done in the past, good or bad, the ones on there now can at least agree to protecting We the People of Mitchell County by enacting a subdivision ordinance. It will keep crooks and frauds like that bunch on social media from legally committing fraud and cheating people with their land “deals.” Lots of those kind still around. They all seem to think they have the right to cheat others by making it legal to do so. Thank you, Mitchell County Commission!
