I’m no defender of the CDC’s managerial dysfunction and communication, but it would be wise to understand that they did not change “the lethal toxicity level and the affect on children the vinyl chloride has on people 2 weeks before the train derailment” “for the first time in 17 years” as has been falsely posted in this forum. It didn’t happen. Toxicity levels have been updated and changed at least five times since 1987. A draft of possible change was posted for public comment in January. Comments can be submitted through May 10. If you choose to file a public comment please note that the document is talking about different kinds of exposure, acute (under 14 days) vs chronic (over 365 days). I find there’s a lot of other interesting updates proposed on different substances at any given time and a careful reading often gives insights into the process of scientific analysis. Geeky stuff, but interesting and often useful.
