While I agree that politics has long been a part of education, I disagree that making school board elections partisan will change that or make anything more transparent. It will only make the politics worse and encourage more political posturing among a bunch of people doing too much of it already. While the adults may enjoy continuing to fight among themselves, it’s not good for our kids. If you live in Mitchell County and don’t know the values, character and politics of people running for school board you haven’t been paying attention or don’t have any kids in schools. Why can’t we put aside the partisan bickering for at least one good reason? Our children.
