Kate Presnell Robinson Blalock, age 88, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 at the Mitchell House. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Tessie Thomas Presnell. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Robinson who passed away in 1988; brother, Kenneth Presnell and his wife, Lillian and a stepson, Larry Blalock. Kate was a member of Micaville Presbyterian Church who loved to sew, cook, watching her birds, working in her flowers and garden and especially weed eating. To sum up Kate in one word, it would be the word “love”. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving is her loving husband of 32 years, Clyde Blalock; son, James Robinson and wife, Charlene, of Burnsville; granddaughter, Olivia Robinson and her daughter, Gabby Kate Bryant, of Burnsville; step-son, Greg Blalock of Burnsville; step-grandchildren: Austin Burchette of Burnsville, Brandon Conner of Brooklyn, NY, Sarah Stevenson of Burnsville, Sonya Blalock of Marion, Shannon Blalock, Bella Blalock, Rebekah Blalock, Adrienne Blalock and Kenzie Blalock all of Burnsville; very special former step-daughter-in-law, Diane Blalock of Burnsville; siblings: Glenna Buchanan and husband, Billy, of Burnsville, Joan Thomas and husband, Berl, of Burnsville, Julia Blevins and husband, Jim, of Burnsville, Leland Presnell and wife, Jean, of Burnsville and Patsy Jenkins and husband, Larry of Nashville, TN. Several other extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Duane Cassida will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m prior to the services at the funeral home. Private burial will be in the Shelby Robinson Cemetery.
