Vaughtie King Rice, age 78, of Burnsville, gained her wings on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023. A native of Leeds, England, she was the daughter of Rene Batty King and the late Bryan King. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Steven Charles King; special friend, Jack C. Clontz; both maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles, and her dog and best friend, Kato.
Vaughtie was an avid NASCAR fan, especially for Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. She loved dogs, traveling to the beach, and had a hidden talent of playing piano. She was a member of Bald Creek United Methodist Church. Vaughtie was a fun and loving Mom who was hard-working and strong. She was special to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Surviving is her mother, Rene Batty King of Burnsville; daughter, Lisa Harrell (Patrick) of Burnsville; special daughter, Catherine Lunsford (Bobby) of Arden; three nieces, Amber King, Amanda King and Miranda King of Burnsville; and special friend, Tommy Ann Ledbetter of Skyland. She is also survived by several close aunts and uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th at Bald Creek United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Keith Haverkamp will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to funeral services at the church. A private graveside service will be held.
