David James Upton (lovingly known as Jamey) age 37 passed away at his Spruce Pine residence on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Born in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of David Howard and Julia Duncan Upton.
Jamey loved his mountain life. As he hiked on trails with his beloved German Shepherd dog, Izzy, he took pictures of beautiful scenery and waterfalls. He truly had an eye for beauty and captured it in his pictures. His mantra was “Mountain life is the best life.”
Jamey was predeceased in death by his grandfather Julius Elvin Duncan, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Emily Marie Upton and her mother Nicole Gilchrist of Waxhaw, NC.
He is further survived by his grandparents Cynthia P. Rogers, Ann and Sam Johnson, his uncles Chris Duncan and Keith Upton, and his aunts Abigail Ruth Johnson and Kathryn Johnson Parker.
