Mary Lou Carroll, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at her home.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late John and Alice Henson Carroll. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter, Chrystal Mims; sisters: Edna Aylor, Frances Briggs and Predith Bradshaw and brothers: Lee Carroll and Grayson Carroll.
Mary Lou enjoyed working outside in her flowers, canning, quilting, collecting Princess Diana figurines, and having and going to yard sales. She especially loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren and her dog, Sadie.
Surviving are her daughters: Lavonia Carroll of the home and Cynthia Yarborough of Burnsville; grandchildren: Shane and Caleb Yarborough; great-grandchildren: Natasha Renfro and Josiah Yarborough; great, great-grandchildren: Cameron and Alana McGrew; and sister, Myrtle Ingle of Taylorsville. Several other extended family members also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 9th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Joe Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pete Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
