Melissa Calhoun ‘Missy’ Harwood, age 52, of West Mountain Drive in Spruce Pine, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at her home.
Born on August 29, 1970 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Calhoun and Brenda Jones who still survives. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Tim Buchanan.
Missy was the owner of Natures Mystic Treasures. She enjoyed the art of creating jewelry. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and caring for her chickens. She loved spending time with her family and particularly her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Brittany Dellinger and husband, Joshua of Spruce Pine; her sons; Dalton Buchanan of Colorado Springs, CO, Colton Buchanan of Spruce Pine and Rylan Harwood of Marion; her mother; Brenda Jones of Newland and her grandchildren; Jovi, Judah, Emberlyn, Arrow, Atlas, and Eleanor.
A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. Joshua Dellinger and Dustin Dellinger officiating. Interment will be in the Cane Creek Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be; Eddie Hobson, Gary Massey, Charlie Jones, Jamie Jones, Jerry Dale Jones, and Wesley Jones.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the staff of Compassionate Care of Western North Carolina and especially Tara McKinney for the amazing care of Missy during her illness.
