Mars Hill Man Charged With Second-degree Murder

Asheville police have identified the suspect in a bicyclist’s hit-and-run death and are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

28 year old James Shearon was hit by a car just after 5 p.m. March 1 on Grove Street in downtown Asheville. Police said Shearon died from his injuries on March 8.

On Friday, March 10, police said 21 year old Calvin Tyler Dion of Mars Hill, was driving the 2012 Honda Civic that struck Shearon.  The Honda Civic was found in a nearby parking lot.

Dion has been charged with felony hit-and-run, reckless driving, second-degree murder, speeding and failure to reduce speed.

Asheville police are asking for the public’s help in locating Dion, who is described as standing 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has blonde hair and brown eyes. His tattoos include “NEVER FORGET” on his left hand, a unique tattoo covering on his right hand, a pentagram on his chest and a pierced tongue.

Police said Dion is believed to be hiding in Madison County or Mooresville.
