David Glenn Bruce

David Glenn Bruce, age 53, of Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 10th, 2023. A native of Buncombe County, he was a grandson of the late Paul and Donnie Bruce. He is also preceded in death by his dog, Annie.

David loved his family and grandchildren, and enjoyed every moment he spent with them. He was a 1987 graduate of Charles D. Owen High School. He worked as a machinist and welder at Wright’s Machine and Tools. He was an avid gun, knife, and Hot Wheels collector. He always had a great time in his truck going four-wheeling and sitting around the campfire. David loved being around hot rods and tinkering on his 1968 Chevy C10 pickup. He was deeply loved, especially by his wife, Staci, and will be missed beyond words.

Surviving is his loving wife of 13 years, Staci Shepherd Bruce, of the home; his mother, Margaret Bruce Thompson, and stepfather, Robert Thompson of Swannanoa; daughter, Hayley Bruce of Black Mountain; son, Tyler Bruce of Fort Carson, Colorado; stepson, Tyler Austin (Brittanie) of Madison County, NC; stepdaughter, Megan Austin (Daniel) of Burnsville; six grandchildren: Bently, Ryley, Kolten, Everlee, Maddix and Grayson; sister, Barbara Bruce of Swannanoa; brother, Jimmy Bruce (Holly) of Swannanoa; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Cathy Beaver of Burnsville; and special friends: Wade Deyton, and Robert and Michelle Effler, all of Burnsville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Pastor Dustin Sturgill will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the memorial service.
