David Robb Tomberlin, age 76, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 12th, 2023 at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John and Nellie Miller Tomberlin. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Eloise Thomas and Willoree Smith. David was a US Army Vietnam Combat Veteran. He retired from the Yancey County Schools Maintenance department. He was a strong, patient, smart man who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed bird hunting, gardening, going to ballgames and woodworking.
Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Lillian Wilson Tomberlin; children: Robert Tomberlin, Richard Wilson (Anaweg) and Lisa Wilson, all of Burnsville; sister, Bonnie Fortner (Jim); special grandson, Garrett Wilson; grandchildren: Jessica, Bobby (Samantha), Christiana (Joe), and Kyleigh; great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Brooklin, Riley, Avery, Logan, Joseph, Corbin, Kane and Kase; great, great-grandson, Manuel; and special friend, John Stallings. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
