I’ve been closely following the story of how we got to partisan school board elections in Mitchell County including watching the committee meetings and General Assembly sessions about it on line, culminating in the passage of H88 today. Even if I was in favor of partisan school board elections I would still have real concerns about the way in which this was done. We need some sunshine focused on this process. No matter if we are for or against this, if anything can be done this way, imposed on us in this way, it’s concerning. What if it’s something you don’t agree with? Think about that. This process has been hurried and not transparent. We deserve more from our elected officials no matter which party they are affiliated with.
