Robert Thomas, age 58, of the Crabtree Community, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31st, 2023 unexpectedly at his home. A native of McDowell County, he was a son of the late Willard and Thurlene Jones Thomas. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Thomas; grandbabies: Shiloh, Adriel, Noel and Jordan Thomas and a brother, Preston Thomas. Robert was a member of Celo Methodist Church. He loved being a dad and papaw. He enjoyed playing Santa with the special needs children at the Friends across North Carolina and fishing. Robert never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone.
Surviving is his loving wife of 38 years, Tammy Carroll Thomas; two sons: Greg Thomas of Burnsville and Jeff Thomas and wife, Leeza, of Pennsylvania; daughter, Tabitha Thomas of Burnsville; grandchildren: Allyson, Paisley and Lily and one on the way; special daughter-in-law, Addie Palmer of Spruce Pine; sister-in-law, Grace Thomas of Marion and godchildren: James Thompson and Abby Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 3rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Travis Wynkoop will officiate. Private burial will be in the Bowditch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
