Damon Hughes, age 70, of Roaring Creek Road in Newland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on February 25, 1953 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Herman and Bertie Hughes.
Damon was a member of the Pittman Gap Community Church.
He enjoyed making custom hand-crafted knives. He could build anything and earlier in his life, he worked in construction. He loved spending time with his family and friends and playing practical jokes on them. He also enjoyed eating Cheetos and drinking energy drinks.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Marsha K. Hughes of the home; his sons; Roby Holtsclaw of Ledger and Bubba Holtsclaw and wife, April of Loafers Glory; his sister; Judy Puckett of Banner Elk; his grandchildren; Autumn and husband, Danny, Tori, Josh, River, Elijah, Beth, and Jonathan; and his great grandchildren; Stephen and Violet.
In accordance with Damon’s wishes, no services are planned.
