Kathy Biggerstaff

Kathy Biggerstaff, age 88, of Pine Grove Church Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2023 at The Green’s in Spruce Pine.

Born on December 11, 1934 in Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Alice Perryman. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Biggerstaff and a son, Bobby Biggerstaff.

Kathy was a member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher in the Children’s Department and also volunteered for other church projects. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts and working crossword puzzles.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of sixty-nine years; Laxton Biggerstaff of the home; her sons; Mike Biggerstaff and wife, Vickie of Spruce Pine and Perry Biggerstaff and wife, Kathy of Burnsville; her grandchildren; Jacob, Aubrey and husband, James, Lynn and husband, B.J., and John; and her great grandchildren; Ariel, Christian, Yuri, and Emerson.

A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with a eulogy by Wallace Thompson and Rev. Jock Ollis officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either; Shriners, www.lovetotherescue.org or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org

The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to the staff of, The Green’s of Spruce Pine and Medi Home Hospice of Newland for their wonderful care of Kathy during her illness.
