Lena Rae Laws Robinson

Lena Rae Laws Robinson, age 77, of Indian Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Yancey County, she was one of thirteen children to the late Lester and Ruby Edwards Laws and the wife of the late Kenneth Edward Robinson, who passed away in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Leroy, Homer, Harold, Mack and Reece Laws, along with a sister-in-law, Vertie Robinson and brothers-in-law: Herman McCurry and Fred Sturgill.

Lena was a member of Indian Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She had a very strong work ethic and loved mowing her yard, working in her flowers, cleaning, going to church and adored her grandchildren. She will always be remembered as an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Surviving are two daughters: Maria McIntosh (Adam) of Bald Mountain and Kelly Blevins (Josh) of Busick; son, James Robinson (Leslie) of Spruce Pine; eight grandchildren: Toby McIntosh (Jessica), Tyara Hughes (Matt), Cheyenne Blevins, Maddie Rae Blevins, Niki Scott (Jacob), Austin Wilson (Anna Brooke), Katie Wilson and Madison Hoilman; six great-grandchildren: Levi, Addison, Nora Nell, Mira Jane, Luna Monroe and Jax; brother, Junior Laws (Lenny) of Clearmont; six sisters: Grace Sturgill of Pigeon Roost, Burma Robinson (Dennis) of Spruce Pine, Bonnie McCurry of Pennsylvania, Jane Deyton of Green Mountain, Evelyn Medford of Marion, and Kay McMahan of Burnsville; brother-in-law, Joe Robinson of Bee Log; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Laws of Green Mountain and Atlas Laws of Jacks Creek. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 16th, in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services, with services to follow at 3 p.m. Rev. Charlie Foster, Rev. Josh Hoyle and Rev. Stacey Elkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Deyton-Laws Cemetery at Bailey Hill. Pallbearers will be Greg Laws, Jerry Laws, Adam McIntosh, Josh Blevins, James Robinson and Danny Sturgill.
