Free Outdoor Community Health Clinic at the Burnsville Fit Families 5K

On Saturday, April 22nd from 9:30 am to noon, the Home Remedies Program will hold a free, interactive, walk-up community health clinic on the Town Square during the Burnsville Fit Families 5K. Everyone is welcome to experience and learn about complementary health services including acupuncture, massage, and Tai Chi from local practitioners while learning about the Home Remedies Program. Local practitioners from Mountain Community Healing Arts, Mountain Mobile Acupuncture, Wood Element Acupuncture, Ironwood Arts, and Mars Hill Chiropractic Center will share their time and expertise during the clinic. Join us to try out these services while your friends and family run the 5K, or join us for a wind-down after you complete the race.

Home Remedies: Community Options Addressing Pain and Stress focuses on providing proven, effective, and safe options to help you feel better and improve your quality of life, with a goal of preventing and/or reducing the use of pain medications. The community health clinics are an opportunity for community members to experience locally available practices and services.

The Home Remedies Program also offers free, online courses with strategies for pain management and stress reduction, presented by local complementary health providers. These practices include physical therapy, massage, mindfulness, examination of thought patterns, nutrition, Tai Chi, and Qigong. This course is freely available to access at your own pace and convenience. Mitchell and Yancey residents can also earn vouchers for individual treatment services. Check it out and enroll at www.path-homeremedies.org, or call (828) 214-7885.

In addition to the online course and community clinics, the Home Remedies Program offers two in-person seated gentle yoga and meditation classes every Monday at 10:00 am at Reconciliation House and 12:00 pm at the Yancey Senior Center. All abilities welcome.
