Bonnie “Bunny” June Manus Sutton, age 62, of the Bald Mountain Community, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, April 13th, 2023 at Mission Hospital. A native of Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Betty Mustin Manus. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Neal Sutton who passed away March 19th, 2022. Bunny was a special needs teacher who loved to travel and was a true fighter, having battled breast cancer twice. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who tried to take care of everyone.
Surviving is her daughters: Krista Sutton Marshall (Ron) of Epworth, GA and Kim Sutton (Jack Bundrick) of Burnsville; grandchildren: Richard Pierce Neal Marshall, Eden Arabella June Marshall, Riley McCourry and Gabriella “Gobie” Phillips; sisters: Donna Coates, Kelly Brown, Cindy Collins, Karen Williams and Sunny Morris; brother, Mark Manus; brother-in-law, Wayne Sutton of Monroe and her sister-friend, Pat McCoy and husband, David, of Monroe. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22nd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Cliff Garris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sutton’s Homeplace Cemetery at their home. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
