Lisa Raye Ayers Whitehead, age 54, of Hampton, TN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her husband by her side at the Johnson City Medical Center on Friday, April 21, 2023.
A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of Robbie Fox Ayers and the late Charles “Tom” Ayers of Green Mountain, NC.
Lisa was a 1986 graduate of Mountain Heritage High School. She was an active member of Covy Rock Freewill Baptist Church, where she was involved with her kids for several years. Lesia loved the beach and her kids at Valley Forge Elementary School, where she worked as a lunch lady.
In addition to her mother, she leaves behind her loving husband of 36 years, Mark Whitehead, of Hampton, TN; her children, Matthew and Meagan Whitehead, of the home; her sisters, Janet Renfro and Rita Ayers; brother, Mike Ayers; and several nieces and nephews, as well as her church family and numerous family and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her doctors at the Cancer Center in Johnson City, Tennessee and the nurses and medical staff on the chemo unit who cared for her.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home at 2 o’clock. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior to service time. Reverends Marvin Hensley and Kevin Laws will officiate. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Green Mountain.
