June “Mimi” Fender Miller, age 78, of the Ramseytown Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Baxter and Edith Phillips Pate. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Fender, who passed away on April 26th, 1991, as well as two brothers, Alden and Ronald Pate.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, and sports. She had a deep love for her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Reading her Bible and having a close relationship with the Lord were two of the most important things in life to her.
Surviving is her husband, Ronald Lee Miller; daughter, Kathy Ray (Vince); son, Jeff Fender (Samantha), all of Burnsville; stepson, Donald Miller (Lori) of Bellevue, Nebraska; nine grandchildren: Rylynn Mason, Evan Edwards (Leah), Ethan Ray, Hannah Ray, Lauren Deyton, Erika Fender (John Robertson), Michael Fender (Shelby), Lily Fender and Izzy Fender; two step-grandchildren: Ashley Miller and Eric Miller; seven great-grandchildren: Zayden, Brantyn, Silas, Hoyer, Brayden, Nolan and Knox; two sisters: Jewell Robinson and Joyce Phillips of Burnsville; and brother, Reece Pate of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1st, 2023 in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Stacey Elkins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Zach Fender Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to funeral services in the chapel.
