Faye McMahan, age 90, of the Newdale Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late McKinley and Martha Vanover McMahan. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Faye Silver; two brothers; six sisters; son-in-law, Walter Ray and a grandson, Bruce Kelly Ray. Faye worked hard all her life. She was the best mother, granny, mamaw and memaw ever. She loved to work in her yard and her flowers, line dance and especially loved her friends she did it with.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Geraldine Ray; three sons: William Silvers (Diane), Ronnie Silvers (Jocelyn) and David Silvers (Cathy) all of Burnsville; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and thirteen great, great-grandchildren. Many friends and extended family also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Johnny Stone will officiate. Burial will follow in the Eddie McMahan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 prior to the services at the funeral home.
