As part of the ongoing investigation into the sale and distribution of illegal substances in Yancey County a traffic stop was conducted in the Bald Creek area on 04/29/2023. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Trafficking amount of Methamphetamine. Sergio Jonathan Fernandez Flores, 46, of Weaverville was charged with Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place Controlled Substance, Simple Possession Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Possession Marijuana Paraphernalia, Possession Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Revoked. Flores is being held in the Yancey County Detention Center under a $82,500 bond.
