Request for Freestanding Emergency Department by Mission

A large number of people in our area end up at HCA/Mission in Asheville for emergency care. Approval is now being sought for a freestanding emergency department in Buncombe County.  MH Mission Hospital LLLP, which is Mission Hospital, has filed a certificate of need application with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to develop a freestanding emergency department in Asheville. The proposed emergency department would offer emergency, laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services.

The project is expected to cost $29 million and would be completed in July 2025.

A public hearing for this project will be held June 19 at 9:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Auditorium of Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College, 340 Victoria Road in Asheville.
