“Shake the Roof” Fundraiser for Yancey History Museum

Tickets are limited so purchase yours soon for Yancey History Association’s fundraiser on the grounds of the NuWray Hotel Saturday, June 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. Roland’s, the NuWray outdoor bar will be open selling cocktails, beer/wine, and non-alcoholic options. The event includes an evening of music by three bands, great food, along with silent auction and raffle items Tickets are $50.

June 24 fundraiser for museum project

 

The NuWray Hotel’s garden grounds will be the setting for the “Shake the Roof” Gala, thanks to the support of hotel proprietors James and Amanda Keith.

The event takes place on Saturday, June 24, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each, which includes delicious food prepared by the NuWray culinary staff.  Roland’s, the NuWray outdoor bar, will be open selling cocktails, beer/wine, and non-alcoholic options.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Yancey History Association Building Fund for the restoration project that will focus on replacing the historic 1840s McElroy House cedar shake roof.

The event features local musicians: Typical Mountain Boys (Keith Cole, Kenny Jobe and Don Hogan) and Pete and Kim McWhirter.

There will be some great silent auction and raffle items including an amazing carving by David Boone, a beautiful painting by Everett Kivette, Hammond’s Antiques $100 gift certificate, Grape Vine gift card, and other items to be announced. There will also be door prizes for attendees, and personalized “Shake the Roof” sponsor award certificates.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at: Yancey History Association office at 3 Academy Street; Yancey Graphics at 19E By-Pass across from TD Bank; and the Chamber of Commerce/Visitors Center at 106 W. Main Street.
