Jaymes “Big Boy Jaymes” Mitchell, 14 month old son of Dustin and Holly Mitchell, laid down for his mid-day nap and opened his eyes in the arms of Jesus and waiting there was his great-grandfather, Ed Ballew on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Ed Ballew. Jaymes laughed and smiled throughout his 14 months; bringing joy and happiness to everyone he touched. Jaymes was a fighter, diagnosed with Leigh’s syndrome, he was faced with many obstacles but was tough as a grizzly bear! He brought much love, joy and happiness to everyone he touched. Jaymes was deeply loved by his family, and will always remain his mommy and daddy’s precious baby and Brittan and Presley Mae’s Bubbie.
Left to cherish the sweet memories is his parents, Dustin and Holly Mitchell; brother, Brittan; sister, Presley Mae; paternal grandparents, Robert and Renata Mitchell and Rita Edwards and Gary; great-grandparents, Sheril and Wanda McKinney; uncles: Adam Mitchell and wife, Summer and Lucas McKinney and wife, Mackenzie and aunts: Misty Moore and Gene Whetstine, Kandis Higgins and husband, Ryan and Amber Whorton and husband, Kyle. Many cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 2nd in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Jeffrey Reecer, Rev. Jeff Atkins and speaker Lillian Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. The family requests that you wear blue in remembrance of Big Boy Jaymes. Private burial will follow in the Mitchell Homestead Cemetery.
