One person was killed and a 7-year-old was airlifted to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 4 p.m., on N.C. 226 near Mitchell County High School. Troopers said Cynthia Boone hit a pickup truck from behind, then struck another vehicle head-on.
Boone, 46, was killed and a 7-year-old in the car was airlifted to a hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. Troopers said the child’s injuries were not life-threatening and the other drivers had minor injuries and were not transported.
Seatbelts were used, alcohol use is not suspected and no charges are expected, troopers said.
