Fundraiser for museum June 24 hosted at NuWray Hotel grounds.  Offers dinner, prizes.

The garden grounds of NuWray Hotel and Carriage House Sundries will be the setting for the June 24 “Shake the Roof” event, thanks to the generosity of proprietors James and Amanda Keith.

The Keiths will also provide attendees with an update on the status of their restoration of these two historic local landmarks in downtown Burnsville.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Yancey History Association’s Building Fund to replace the cedar shake roof on the 1840s McElroy House Museum, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the five-state N.C. Civil War Trails Program.

Come and learn more about our wonderful local museum that has been collecting, preserving and exhibiting the area’s history since it opened in 2003.
